This episode aired without commercial interruption so that a special five and a half minute preview of sponsor Chevrolet's line of new cars for 1965 could be shown. This extended commercial is known as "Chevrolet's Bewitching Bonanza" as the casts of two of Chevrolet sponsored new shows - ABC's "Bewitched" (Elizabeth Montgomery, Agnes Moorehead, Dick York) and NBC's "The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (Robert Vaughn) - joined Lorne Greene, Dan Blocker, Pernell Roberts, and Michael Landon on the "Bonanza" set of Virginia City. This was a rare spot by the "Bewitched" cast in color as they were filming their first season episodes in black and white.
Very sad day in Bonanza and California's history. On this day The horse Michael Landon rode, Cochise, was destroyed because of an attack that happened on September 27, 1964. According to articles at the time: Cochise was one of seven horses doped, then savagely maimed, by someone who broke into Fat Jone's stables in North Hollywood. Cochise and another had to be destroyed.
