Cartwrights. In this episode the famous 19th century actress Adah Isaacs Menken is making a personal appearance in Virginia City. Ruth Roman plays
Menken and the sons find out that somewhere between the three wives he married he and Menken had some history.
One of her other involvements was with prizefighter Don Megowan who is now a shadow of himself, but still a bully and a thug and an abuser. Lorne Greene appoints himself her protector. But what and how much she needs is a debatable proposition.
The climax of the episode is a nasty brawl with Megowan and Dan Blocker two really big guys. In the end though you could hear a Helen Morgan torch song playing in your mind.
Ruth Roman turns in a fine performance though hardly the real Menken.
