This is a good episode, especially for some unintentional laughs. Marcia suddenly has to wear braces, and thinks the braces make her ugly. She starts wallowing in self-pity, which brings on some unconvincing crying spells. Things get worse when Alan (who was seen only in this episode) tells Marcia that he can't take her to the school dance. Of course, she doesn't believe him. He just doesn't want to be seen with a girl who has braces! This brings on one of Marcia's best lines in the series. "I hate you, Alan Anthony! I hate everybody!" I know that was supposed to be a big, dramatic scene, but I'm different. I've always found it hilarious. Of all the last names they could have given this guy, why "Anthony"? Of course, everything works out in the end. Alan Anthony winds up taking her to the dance, anyway. Maureen McCormick, at this point, didn't have the attributes that might cause you not to care so much about her performance. For example, cute legs and the mini skirts to showcase them. This was to come later in the series.

Marcia thinks she is ugly when she has have braces on her teeth.
A good Marcia episode. Maureen McCormick has some convincing crying scenes. A funny scene has Cindy asking Marcia about that "barbed wire". Marcia is also supposed to be going to the school dance and her date Alan says he can't go because his family is going out of town. She doesn't believe him. Carol, Greg and Alice try to fix her up with someone else.
