The incidental music during Greg's surfing contest is an homage to Mort Stevenson's theme music for Hawaii Five-O (1968).
Greg's wipeout in the surfing contest was nearly edited out of the episode, as the executives felt it was too frightening for the nature of the show. To this day, Barry Williams says the scene still scares him when he sees it in reruns.
The first episode featuring Robert Reed's naturally curly hair, which he kept in some form for the duration of his life. In this episode, when Mike comes home with the tickets, his hair is straight. However, when the Bradys get to Hawaii, his hair is curly. This is not because he went to the salon for a "perm" to curl his hair, it's because the humidity in the Hawaiian air brought out his natural curl when he arrived to film the season four premiere. By the time the scene of the Brady's exiting the aircraft was filmed, his hair had curled. The cast has commented on this many times in many interviews over the years.
While on the Pearl Harbor boat tour the family passes the USS Barbel SS 580 while she is being serviced. The submarine was decommissioned on Dec. 4, 1989. While available on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray media, this episode is not available on streaming services such as Amazon Prime or Paramount + due to music clearance issues for the song "Sweet Someone."
