For the roller coaster scene, a camera had to be mounted at the front of the coaster. Before shooting the scene, Robert Reed (Mike Brady) thought the camera looked loose on its mount and ordered a test run of the coaster to ensure safety. The camera flew off its mount on the test run and it could have potentially killed the cast had they been on board the coaster.
Rumor has it that Susan Olsen refused to ride the Racer roller coaster, so for those scenes the producers asked a blonde girl from the crowd to sit with the Brady family. Barry Williams raised his arms to hide her face. But in the shots taken from the side, you can see Maureen McCormick sitting next to Barry Williams.
The Kings Island park was not a closed set when this episode was filmed. To give it a realistic feel, the episode was filmed on a normal park business day without extras. Patrons who had been standing in lines for the rides, for up to an hour in the hot sun, gave angry stares as the Brady actors were ferried to the front of the long lines in order to shoot the ride scenes. Several of the Brady cast members have spoken about their memories of the heat on that day and of their surprise to find the park open for business as usual. They didn't want to be taken to the front of the long lines but relented when they realized it was the only way to complete the scenes.
In this episode, director Leslie H. Martinson was forced to take the role of Mr. Remington when an actor didn't show up. It was the only time he ever acted onscreen.
According to an interview with Mike Lookinland, he is wearing one of Bob Denver's Gilligan hats from all three seasons of Gilligan's Island. Both shows were created by the late Sherwood Schwartz.
