The character Carl Dawson says that there was a mistake in the amount of his wife's life insurance payment. Life insurance proceeds are not taxable income.
After receiving Russell Edge's business files from his disgruntled ex-wife, the forensic accountant tracks down a rented parking space (listed as "feed storage" in the files) where the missing Rolls is hidden. The Rolls is then examined by Duquesne and Delko, revealing vital clues leading to the killer of the IRS agent. In a subsequent interview with Mrs. Edge it transpires, though, that the parking space was, in fact, rented by her, and only recently, to hide the Rolls after she had discovered where her ex-husband had stashed the car and his other possessions and had taken it as a sort of revenge divorce payment. Therefore, there is no reason why the parking space should appear in the husband's business files as he had never anything to do with it.
