Cat and mouse game of the mind
bkoganbing18 February 2016
The cultured Sebastian Cabot is spending an afternoon as a guest at a monastery recording some Gregorian chants when a couple of escapees from a jail crash the joint. James Coburn and Nick Adams are the fugitives and Adams shot a cop during the break. That makes them very wanted men.

Adams is a dumb kid with a quick trigger finger, but Coburn is vicious, deadly, and not stupid. He spots Cabot as a phony when he puts on the monk's robes.

Still he doesn't know that he's dealing with a criminal psychologist. And they play a nice cat and mouse game of the mind. As for Adams he's rather easy to work on for Cabot. Mere child's play.

An unusual Checkmate, but a good one.
