- Cheyenne rides into Winslow to deliver a letter to banker Smaller. When he's killed in a holdup, Cheyenne is hired to chase after the robbers. But who should he really be worried about? The robbers? The town council? or the sheriff?
- Cheyenne rides into Winslow with a letter recommending him for the job of marshal as a gang of three led by Elijah McGuire plans to rob the bank the next morning. McGuire rides into town alone. Cheyenne stops by the bank to give bank president Frank Smaller the letter but it is closed. He gets a room and drops by the saloon to eat. Marshal Tom Grant comes in and spots McGuire eating. He has a rule that he is to be notified when any strangers enter any business. He asks McGuire his business and decides to kick him out. Cheyenne watches and after it is over spots Harriet Miller who he knows. She introduces him to Tom who decides to offer Cheyenne a free meal to welcome him. Harriet asks to see Cheyenne in his room later. She knows that Tom is to lose his job at noon Friday and Cheyenne is there to apply for it. Wanting Tom to stay, she asks Cheyenne to refuse the job which he says he will consider. The next morning as he talks to Smaller the bank is robbed. Morgan is wounded as Cheyenne wounds gang member Bert McGuire. Cheyenne is thrust into the job of deputy but all is not as it seems.—Anonymous
