The fight between Clint Walker (Cheyenne) and Leo Gordon (Dan Gibson) was the longest and most brutal fight from the series, clocking in at approximately 3 minutes and 15 seconds. 29 punches were landed between the two assailants, and Gibson also went after Cheyenne with a shovel, ax, pitchfork, and hay hook during the fight.
Even though the setting was Gunnison, Colorado, the Bird Cage saloon and sheriff's office and jail were the same sets as used on the then-recently canceled Warner Brothers western Lawman (1958), which was set in Laramie, Wyoming. Lawman had a series finale in June 1962, about 5 months earlier. Cheyenne (1955) would follow suit less than a month after this episode's air date, with a series finale on December 17, 1962.
Clint Walker does not take his shirt off in this episode.
Roberto Contreras (Constanza) also had a recurring role on High Chaparral. There he was fun loving ranch hand Pedro who was on most episodes if only in the background as a Cannon ride along.
