Saunders props the bottom half of the ladder against the wall and starts climbing up. The German shoots the ladder and Saunders falls and lands right where Kirby was seconds before. Kirby was too badly wounded to have moved away.
The bottom half of the ladder that Saunders had just propped against the wall is securely attached as Saunders starts climbing, and still secured as he chases the German up the ladder.
After Saunders tries to clear his jammed rifle, he looks out the window and sees the German, obviously the actor's double - Earl Parker, the same actor that doubles for Saunders. Shortly after this, it's the double sneaking up to a building and he turns his head so that he faces the camera.
When Kirby is shot, there is no squib in his jacket to make it look like he's been shot. He just spins and falls. A closeup shows the bloody would.
While hidden behind some wooden debris, Saunders, who is a few feet from the German, who is thought to be dead, sees the German's binoculars and goes to get them. While Saunders is looking through the binoculars, the semi-conscious German comes to and reaches for his knife. The scene blacks out for a commercial and returns to the same spot. As the German jumps to attack, Saunders is suddenly back where he was before going for the binoculars, and close enough to fight the German.
Brunner addresses his superior (equivalent of an American Captain) as "Herr Kapitän". That would be correct in the German Navy, but in the German Army (Heer), the rank is called Hauptmann. Captains are addressed as "Herr Hauptmann" in other episodes.
Heismann, yelling out to Saunders, brags about being a wild game hunter, going all over the world, using the same rifle he now has with him. He demonstrates how good a shot he is by shooting down a sign that is hanging on the building behind Saunders. Yet, with all the shots he's made, whether Saunders is running or motionless, Heismann can't hit him.
Kirby isn't carrying his usual BAR.
Heismann is holding up Kirby and using him as a shield as he drags him into the building. Kirby is unconscious, but he uses his legs to move along with Heismann.
