One of the earliest Moulin attempts...
Not the best of the whole series, but the show needed to get in full speed. It went on, proceeded for thirty years and better and better. In the first season, there was more humor, more lightness. Less in the following seasons. In this episode, Moulin has to investigate after a suicide. A woman took her own life after the death of her husband, killed during a casino heist, where the gangsters shot the Inside man. So Moulin's investigation leads him on the public number one trail. One of the few épisodes where our lead cop has to follow a big gangster; there will be more, of course, but not that much, compared to the serial killers, crime of all kinds and rogue cops. Social problems which this very popular and excellent series will show us. There is here a little tribute to José Giovanni's novels, because one of the superintendnats' name is Blot. The plot is in the line of the seventies fashion, vigilante cops and so on... The gangster character is played by an actor who looks like Michel Serrault; he speaks like him and the final scene, where the lead heavy speaks about horses is terrific !!! More than any action sequence. A very ironical ending...Very surprising, different with everything you have seen before.
