Kristina Holland: Tina Rickles

Quotes

  • [Tom and Tina are discussing how nervous Eddie is about having to kiss a girl in a school play]

Tina Rickles : You know, Mr Corbett, I think you're doing a wonderful job.

Tom Corbett : Ah, well, thank you, Tina. A wonderful job of what?

Tina Rickles : Well, initiating Eddie into the mysteries of love. Guiding him through his first real experience.

Tom Corbett : Tina, don't you think you're making a little more of this than is necessary?

Tina Rickles : How can you say that, Mr Corbett?... what we are talking about is setting up a lifelong pattern for a successful man-woman relationship, untying all of those knots before they have a chance to get tied, taking that all-important first step on the long road to manhood.

Tom Corbett : Tina, it's just a kiss. Just a kiss. If anybody is taking a step, it's Eddie.

Tina Rickles : Oh, no, I know that, but y'see, a son gets his whole sense of sexual direction from his father.

Tom Corbett : All I tried to do is not make a big thing of it.

Tina Rickles : But, if you weren't there to put everything in its proper perspective, he probably wouldn't be able to handle it, either.

Tom Corbett : [gently sarcastic]  Well, then, in that case, all right, Tina, I accept it. I am now a candidate for Father of the Year, and I have the magic touch. I take full credit for having the most mature nine-year-old on our block.
