The Morgendorffer family goes to visit some freaky family. They are freaky because they already are starting to prep their pre-schooler for the SAT and college life! While this is insane, Helen and Jake think that perhaps they, too, should think about preparing Daria and Quinn for the future--especially since it's not that far off at this time.
In addition to taking a special SAT course, the family goes to visit Jake and Helen's alma mater, Middleton College. Naturally things have changed A LOT since the Pleistocene Era--and the visit is less wonderful than the parents had envisioned as they fit in about as well as Southern Baptists at a nudist colony! However, Daria and Quinn manage to fit in quite well--and that scares their folks! This is a very entertaining episode. While college is a topic the series will revisit several times, this is the first one to deal with it. Filled with irony, this is exceptionally well-written and clever. I particularly liked the creepy scene where Helen is coming on to a very scared undergrad as well as the one with Daria and her new business.
By the way, there IS a 'Manatee College' (in Bradenton, Florida) but it's nothing like the way they describe it in the show (it's NOT on the beach and Manatee Community College actually DOES make you go to classes). Unfortunately, they just changed the name of the school to a boring and generic-sounding one. Perhaps they just had too many students pestering them about their location and lack of work required. ;-)
