So much better than Four Scary Stories...

Warning: Spoilers
But not as good as The Scare and Escape from Witch Island. I've always preferred the first half of season 6. All the episodes are good. Some are better than others, but not one drags the season down. Here you have the long overdue Audrey and Pacey breakup, leading to Audrey's downward spiral, that made this last season of Dawson's Creek, more soap dish than teen drama. Joey starting her fling and on and off relationship with fallen prodige, Eddie. Who's still the best fit for her, at that point. And Dawson finally doing his own thing, with a much more sympathetic than previous Todd, and starlet Natasha. Jen and Jack are just trolling at that point in the series, and are here to make unwanted and cringeworthy political statements. That mostly make them look foolish, when they realize they just misinterpreted things again... Living Dead Girl is filled with late 90s horror self awareness. From CJ (Jensen Ackles) telling former H20 star (Williams) he's planning on watching a rerun of it on Halloween night. And the fact that Natasha is played by another Halloween franchise actress, Bianca Kajlich. Who coincidentally was shooting her own horror movie, while playing a wannabe scream queen on the show. Joey was the annoying 90s slasher ingenue, who screams at the most overplayed jump scares. And Audrey's costume, was a reminder of Tiffany from Bride of Chucky. While « living dead girl » by Rob Zombie, one of the songs of the movie soundtrack. Was heard throughout the Halloween party, on the TV version. Those little nods and references, made this episode appealing to this era horror movies fans. Steve Miner is also involved, and people mentioned earlier, know who I'm talking about... Now there are still annoying characters like Harley, her father (the mean professor) David (the new Tobey...) and the phony Emma. But it's a fine and somewhat feel good episode. Not too cheesy or childish, and with good music by MXPX and Josh Rouse.
