Did you say goat?

Warning: Spoilers
To me, this was one of the funniest episodes, especially of the ones after Joseph Kearns passed away.

Dennis and Mr. Wilson are both trying to get into a club. Dennis, a neighborhood one run by a boy, Walter, whose father got the other two kids nifty T-shirts with a Scorpion on them. John wanted to join a golf club and was about to play a round with a doctor friend (Frank Cady, from Green Acres and Petticoat Junction, who also played a doctor friend of Ozzie Nelson's).

Walter's mother overhears how he doesn't want Dennis in his club, just because he is two years younger, and orders him to let him join. Walter schemes to make Dennis fail his initiation, telling his two friends, who disagree with his leadership, that he will go to Wilson's garage and remove the three things Dennis has to acquire to join the club--namely, a goat, a derby hat, and a bugle.

Naturally, Mr. Wilson (who didn't know Dennis had gotten permission from Mrs. Wilson to put things in the garage overnight) enters the garage and sees the goat. When he brings his friend in, Walter has removed the goat. Later, the goat gets returned and we repeat the scenes, so-to-speak.

Wilson winds up thinking he really is seeing things, until learning that there really was a goat from Dennis. Meanwhile, the Doc was returning the clubs to the garage for John, and he finally sees the goat, wearing a Derby, with a bugle in his mouth. So he also thinks he needs help.

I thought the way everything was set up made for a very funny show. I know it wasn't cutting edge and many elements were predictable. That doesn't ruin a good show to me--it depends on how it is handled.

In The Club, Easy As Goat's Milk

There's a goat involved in the big kids club Dennis wants to join. Actually this short ties into current times. GOAT stands for greatest of all time. And this is the greatest comedy of all time. Tommy and Dennis would call such phrasing "corny." One thing is for certain it's hard to go wrong with character actor Frank Cady on hand. Poor Mr. Wilson just wants to golf. A golfing episode would have been a good idea. A season five would have been needed. All this mayhem is enough to give Wilson a headache. I wonder who's a better story teller Dennis or Gomer Pyle? It's got to be Dennis. And he's got the best audience in his neighbor.
