Claude's story of a man who was wrongfully convicted of the murder of his wife, and then subsequently escapes detention and eventually brings about the discovery of the true killer, is very similar to the story in The Fugitive. Richard Riehle, plays the the Missouri lawman and he also played the prison guard who was transporting Richard Kimble in the movie version of The Fugitive.
The song "Stay Awake" sung by the barbershop quartet at the Christmas party, was originally sung by Julie Andrews in "Mary Poppins", in which Dick Van Dyke played Bert the chimney sweep.
Mark Sloan says "Vaya Con Dios" at the very end to Claude Campbell/Andrew Basevich, as he was slipping out the back door, a tribute to Point Break's Johnny Utah after allowing Bohdi to go for his final surf.
