Much inspired story and worth looking at.

Warning: Spoilers
As you already read it in the plot line, the story seems like thousands of others: a detective, private or not, is hired or receives for task to find a missing girl. Here, Dick Powell is more than convincing, and that's not a comedy crime tale, as you may find in gumshoe's series, such as 77 SUNSET STRIP or PETER GUNN, with a cool and jazzy atmosphere. This tale is rather dark and told with a drama accent. It's not a crime story, but a good characters portrait, handled by powerful performances that sound real, close to what actual people would do in true life. I did not know Carolyn Jones and I am not deceived with the character she plays; this young woman who absolutely wants to disappear from the radar screens and finds shelter with the help of this detective who doesn't tell anything about it to his colleagues and superiors.
