Interesting little ghost story gem.
searchanddestroy-112 February 2016
In this episode, Lewis Allen is back to his grounds with films such as THE UNSEEN or THE UNINVITED, where there was a sort of romance, mystery and eerie, with also a slight of noir atmosphere. See for yourself in this beautiful tale of a woman who, about to get married again after being a widow, is absolutely sure to see the ghost of her late husband. It's useless to say that Joan Fontaine is perfect in this role of the haunted wife, a pure Alfred Hitchock film like character. I will insist on the eerie atmosphere, especially during the clocks sequences...I am astonished to see how many terrific stories the TV industries gave during all these years, stories which the movie industry could have made too. So, please, don't stay focused on the classic movies only, you may miss many gems. But I also admit that the TV material is not always available, unlike the Hollywood studio one, with the help of TCM for instance. If you can get this one, don't let it go, you could regret it. Terrific climax....
