This is a very, very thorough interview with George Romero and some of his closest colleagues, probably the best interview with him in all existence. The narrator nails it when he says NOTLD "changed the face of horror films forever".
George's dad was a commercial artist, uncle was more well-off and had an 8mm camera, had no idea he would pursue films professionally, but started work -- his earliest thing being a segment for Mr. Rogers! Romero has always spoken out against what he calls "tribalism" -- people fighting with each other for what may be very petty differences Ed Harris speaks on "Knightriders", Romero says he was influenced by the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Studio execs at Warner brothers sent Romero to meet King for "Salem's "Lot", but execs went another way and the two developed "Creepshow".
Day of the Dead is considered the "least successful" of the first three zombie films, but is Romero's favorite, and really is better than it's given credit for.
A film called "Before I Wake" (supposed to be between "Dark Half" and "Bruiser") never happened, after 6 years of development, countless writers and such... and at the time of this interview, Romero was working with King yet again on "Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" (which also never happened).
