Busy career girl Jane Powell is involved in the production of a TV show, and is devoted to her work. When romance strikes, she normally strikes back at it, like she's swatting a fly. But when the fly doesn't immediately leave, she begins to feel insecure and agrees to accept the date. Wesley Lau is the fly in this case, persistently pursuing her, even when she stands him up when a crisis arises at work. However, he's not going to wait around forever, walking out on her when she makes up for excuses. Her ailing mother, Ellen Corby, has to be rushed to the hospital, and this appears to wake up Powell from her denial when Lau turns out to be the only one around. It's just an average TV romantic drama that you know how it's going to turn out even if you're not sure of the details. Powell is a decent dramatic actress, so a song from the MGM musical diva isn't required. Corby is better acting choice as Powell's mother than Hedy Lamarr was in her last film, so that's one good thing.
