- Dr. Doug Ross: You can get through my door.
- Carol Hathaway: Anything wearing a bra can get through your door.
- [Jerry is taking an IQ test]
- Jerry Markovic: [whispers] Hey, Dr. Ross...
- Dr. Kerry Weaver: Jerry! It's a test, not a survey.
- Dr. Doug Ross: You do things for people that doctors don't even think about doing.
- Dr. Maggie Doyle: [Enters] Carol? This guy in the hall needs a clean-up. He just did a major "Code Brown."
- [Exits]
- Carol Hathaway: You're right. I wipe butts.
- Dr. Maggie Doyle: What's the story?
- Zadro: Old guy was playing cards with his pals, when he keeled over.
- Dr. Maggie Doyle: Must've gotten a bad hand.
- Dr. John Carter: We removed most of your small intestine. I'm afraid you're not gonna be able to eat solid food again.
- Mr. Bartok: Can I drink?
- Dr. John Carter: Yeah, actually.
- Mr. Bartok: Smoke?
- Dr. John Carter: If you must.
- Mr. Bartok: I'll be fine.
- Dr. Kerry Weaver: Your IQ's not 150. Mine's only 145.
- Jerry Markovic: What am I supposed to do, apologize because I'm smarter than you? What?
- Dr. Kerry Weaver: I'm gonna get an IQ test from psych and if you don't score 150 I'm gonna blow the whistle on you, Dr. Markovic.
- Dr. Donald Anspaugh: What the hell is going on in here?
- Dr. Angela Hicks: Why? What's the problem?
- Dr. Donald Anspaugh: I rejected this patient as a poor surgical risk. Or didn't Dr. Carter tell you?
- Dr. Angela Hicks: No, he didn't.
- Dr. Donald Anspaugh: I got a 23 year jump on you, kid. You trying to outflank me?
- Dr. John Carter: No, sir.
- Dr. Donald Anspaugh: What makes you think your judgement is superior to mine?
- Dr. John Carter: I don't. I don't. I thought that the patient...
- Dr. Donald Anspaugh: This has nothing to do with the patient. This is about the practice of medicine. Interns do not make end runs on the chief of staff. I want you in my office at 5 o'clock sharp to discuss your future as a surgeon. If you have any hope on continuing in this program you will explain your actions with the appropriate degree of contrition and respect and the assurance that nothing like this will ever happen again.
- Dr. John Carter: Dr. Hicks...
- Dr. Angela Hicks: Scrub out, Carter.
