Phlox mentions that Crewman Elizabeth Cutler broke her arm when an anomaly passed through the ship. This is the final reference to Cutler; the actress who played her in previous episodes, Kellie Waymire, died a month after this episode aired and the character was retired.
The uniforms of the Xindi-Reptilians are reused Reman uniforms designed by Bob Ringwood for Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). This is confirmed by Enterprise costume designer Robert Blackman in the 2015 book 'Star Trek Costumes'. Blackman removed the breastplates from the Reman outfits and built wire armor (meant to emulate the bars of a cage) out of aluminum tubing and vinyl hoses over the chest and shoulder areas.
Among the items being sold by hawkers at the floating market were dried cuttlefish and ostrich eggs.
When Tucker and Reed deliver the payment to the merchant (which consists merely of spices commonly found on Earth), Tucker mentions that "on our planet, wars were fought over these". Technically, he is right: the spice trade was so profitable in the 16th and 17th century that many nations used to fight over the territories where the spices were grown, as well as the shipping routes to bring them to Europe. However, from the perspective of Tucker and Reed, these wars were fought over 500 years ago.
