- Captain Jonathan Archer: You're taking over my crew! Why?
- Alien in Sato's body: I understand how you may be frightened by all this - losing your substance, existing as perceptive energy. But you'll be grateful, once you've made the crossing, I promise you.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: We're kind of fond of our substance. We're not very anxious to give it up!
- Alien in Reed's body: Sub-Commander.
- Sub-Commander T'Pol: Is there something I can do for you?
- Alien in Reed's body: You are very beautiful. Are you aware that you are the most attractive woman on board this ship?
- Sub-Commander T'Pol: Do you think it's appropriate for you to be here at this hour?
- Alien in Reed's body: Would you mind taking off your clothing? I'd like to learn more about your anatomy.
- Sub-Commander T'Pol: Have you been drinking?
- Alien in Reed's body: If we are to engage in mating, it would be easier if you disrobed.
- Alien in Reed's body: Are you a female?
- Female Crewman: Sir?
- Alien in Reed's body: Your gender. You are a female. Correct?
- Female Crewman: Last time I checked.
- Alien in Reed's body: I am a male!
- Female Crewman: I'm aware of that, Lieutenant.
- Alien in Reed's body: There seem to be a number of... anatomical differences.
- Female Crewman: Sir!
- [guided by Archer over comm, Phlox tries to pull off a panel]
- Dr. Phlox: It's not coming off.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: It'll come off. You just need to use a little muscle.
- [Phlox tries harder, without success]
- Dr. Phlox: I've used every muscle I've got. It won't budge.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Try using your foot for leverage.
- [Phlox does so, and the panel comes off, sending him flyling backwards and crashing headfirst against the opposite bulkhead]
- Dr. Phlox: Good suggestion.
- Lieutenant Malcolm Reed: Captain, look at this. The atmosphere is changing: 76% nitrogen, 21% oxygen.
- Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III: Somebody seems to know what we like to breathe.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Where do you come from?
- Alien in Tucker's body: We live in subspace. We travel through it. We're explorers, like you.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Why did you take Commander Tucker?
- Alien in Tucker's body: It's been a long time since we've encountered corporeal beings. After we performed the first crossing with your Commander, we realized we were compatible. You're very interesting - trapped in bodies that need maintenance... You have gender. You require mates to reproduce. You eat... food! We were like you once. But we evolved. Now we can learn how our ancestors lived.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: I want those weapons back online too.
- Lieutenant Malcolm Reed: I'll see what I can do.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: When're you planning to return Malcolm Reed?
- Alien in Reed's body: It depends.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Oh, does it? Let's see how much you enjoy experiencing the human condition 'locked in Reed's quarters'.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Let me know if you... take another trip to Tarpon Beach.
- Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III: Tarpon Springs. I'll keep you posted.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: [of Tucker] He said he had some kind of out-of-body experience.
- Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III: Don't forget Florida, Captain. I don't care how far away it is. I was there.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: I need you to get those engines back online.
- Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III: I'll see what I can do.
