- Commander Shran: I'd rather cohabit with Klingon targs than join forces with Tellarites!
- Tellarite Ambassador Gral: Your personal mating preference is no concern of mine.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: I have a proposal.
- Commander Shran: If it involves killing Tellarites, I'm all for it.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: [to Gral] Instead of insulting you to make you feel at home...
- Captain Jonathan Archer: [to Shran] and putting up with your arrogance as a sign of my respect - why don't the two of you try behaving like Humans for a change?
- Tellarite Ambassador Gral: And you said you wouldn't be insulting?
- Commander Shran: [to Talas] I think this Denobulan doctor... is secretly in love with you. He wants to keep you to himself.
- Commander Shran: You're not especially difficult to work with, Captain. Unlike Tellarites, you understand ethics and try to live by them.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Try?
- Commander Shran: Well, nobody's perfect.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: This operation is important, considering that it might lead to an alliance of planets.
- [Reed has caused a power shutdown of the drone ship]
- Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III: You did all this with one phase pistol?
- Lieutenant Malcolm Reed: You're good at building things, I'm good at blowing them up.
- Senator Vrax: [to Valdore] Bring your ship home. I'll tell the Senate that your test has been a success. Otherwise, they'll make someone pay for this failure. And I promise you, it won't be me.
- Commander T'Pol: Vulcans have a saying: "One man can summon the future." What happens if that man throws away his life before his time?
- Captain Jonathan Archer: If I have learned anything these past few years on Enterprise, it's that... the future isn't fixed.
- Commander T'Pol: If anything happens to you...
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Then I'd better make sure that nothing does.
- [during the fight, Archer has gone down]
- Commander Shran: Give up. A single stroke and there'll be no pain.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Think I'm losing? I'm just trying to make you look good in front of your soldiers.
- [Tucker has reprimanded Reed for disobeying a direct order]
- Lieutenant Malcolm Reed: I apologize for saving your life, Commander. It won't happen again.
- [Shran has challenged Naarg to Ushaan, a fight to the death]
- Captain Jonathan Archer: I spoke to Ambassador Gral, about the rules of the Ushaan. Specifically... the right of substitution.
- Commander Shran: The Ambassador's decided to fight in place of his underling?
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Not the Ambassador.
- Commander Shran: ...You wouldn't!
- Captain Jonathan Archer: I'm the substitute. You're gonna have to fight me.
- Commander Shran: I'm going to have to kill you. You're my friend.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Then call it off.
- Commander Shran: [after a pause] I can't.
- Commander Shran: I'll take your blood to Andoria - to the Wall of Heroes.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Not today.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Did you get through to your people?
- Commander T'Pol: Minister T'Pau is dispatching 23 vessels.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: That's all?
- Commander T'Pol: The High Command has been disbanded. Many of our ships no longer have full crew complements.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: T'Pau could have picked a better time to clean house!
- Commander Shran: My vessel, the Kumari, was named for the first ice cutter to circumnavigate Andoria. Perhaps future ships will be named after our vessels - especially if we do something historic... together.
- Captain Jonathan Archer: There's no reason our people can't become allies.
- Commander Shran: Agreed.
- Tellarite Ambassador Gral: I believe we have more to discuss than trade disputes.
- [he offers Shran his hand, who accepts it]
- Captain Jonathan Archer: Why wait until we get to Babel?
