[first lines]
Blair Warner : [on phone] Scott! You're unreal! How can you go on and on about someone's eyes? I've just got plain old big chestnut-brown eyes with green and gold flecks.
Jo Polniaczek : [irritated] With bags under 'em.
-
Blair Warner : [full of herself re visiting photographer] Well, once Jonathan Dutton sees this face, he won't get to Braddock.
Jo Polniaczek : Planning a roadblock?
-
Blair Warner : Imagine, me on the cover of millions of magazines.
Jo Polniaczek : Yeah, kinda makes you wish you had a paper shredder.
Blair Warner : Jo, I understand your jealously. My face says "Harper's Bazaar." Yours just says "bizarre."
Jo Polniaczek : Hey, who's jealous? Dutton isn't gonna pick you. Unless it's for a Lassie lookalike contest.
Blair Warner : Just wait until he picks me. You'll be barking out of the other side of your mouth.
Jo Polniaczek : You wanna put your money where your muzzle is, Benji?
[Natalie and Tootie are in stitches]
Blair Warner : You mean, a bet?
Jo Polniaczek : Yeah! Loser takes winner's KP duty for a week.
Blair Warner : Fine! That will give me plenty of free time to go on to Manhattan for my photo session.
Jo Polniaczek : Get ready to go steady with the trash-masher.
[they shake hands, and Tootie's camera clicks]
Natalie Green : Why did you take a shot of that?
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : Blair and Jo actually shook hands. Don't you know history when you see it?
-
Natalie Green : Now... when I call your name, I'll introduce you to Jonathan, and you'll sit where Nancy is, and do what she's doing.
Blair Warner : You mean, be obvious?
-
Blair Warner : [very fake] Nancy! You look radiant!
Nancy Olson : Thanks. Interesting look, Blair. What's the matter, is your tiara at the cleaners?
Blair Warner : [pretends not to notice] I'm terribly sorry I couldn't be here before your interview. You could have benefited from my expertise.
Nancy Olson : Oh, don't lose any beauty sleep over it. Mr. Dutton said I was striking.
Blair Warner : Striking? Like the Polish auto workers?
Nancy Olson : [unperturbed] Oh, he said my skin glowed and my eyes were piercing.
Blair Warner : [condescending] Oh, the old glow and pierce line.
Natalie Green : Blaire, you're up.
Blair Warner : Excuse me, Nancy. Star time.
-
Natalie Green : Jonathan, this is Blair Warner, number six.
Blair Warner : Think of me as a ten.
-
Jonathan Dutton : You definitely have the quality I look for.
Blair Warner : I know.
-
Natalie Green : Why don't you ask Blair, Tootie? She's the fashion expert.
Blair Warner : You don't want my advice. I'm a loser.
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : No, you're not. You're just over the hill.
-
Edna Garrett : [Tootie is wearing a sort of Princess of the Nile outfit for her photo shoot] I... thought she was gonna be dressed as a schoolgirl.
Blair Warner : That's for Seventeen magazine.
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : Am I a fox, or what?
Edna Garrett : [aghast] Those clothes...!
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : Isn't it terrific? Like playing in my mother's closet, except everything's in my size.
-
Edna Garrett : I'm not sure I'm happy about this.
Blair Warner : Neither am I. That lipstick is absolutely wrong for her.
Jonathan Dutton : Great. Two stage mothers for the price of one.
-
Jonathan Dutton : Okay, girls, it's magic time.
Blair Warner : [to Tootie] This is it. The beginning of your career. Now don't let Rena upstage you.
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : I won't, if you tell me what "upstage" means.
-
[last lines]
Edna Garrett : Oh, Tootie, your decision to stay a kid is the most adult thing you have ever done in your life.
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : I guess so. But it was tempting. All that makeup and clothes and stuff.
Edna Garrett : Oh, Tootie, go and change. And then you can tell your friends all about your modeling career over something to eat. My treat!
Natalie Green : Where should we go?
Edna Garrett : Anywhere Tootie wants!
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : Can we go to Central Park and get hot dogs?
Blair Warner : That's for kids!
Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey : [smiling] I know.
