Fred Wants A Raise
Jimmy_the_Gent422 September 2022
Fred wants to ask Mr. Slate for a raise since Wilma is expecting a baby.

A good episode, typical plot but still some funny scenes. It begins with Fred being woken by a goony bird. He sings My Darling Clementine in the shower.

He goes to ask Mr. Slate for his raise, but Slate is way ahead of him. He pretends to fire his own son for asking for a raise. Barney then comes up with a scheme for Fred to tell Slate he has a better offer for higher paying job. Barney disguises himself as rich Mr. Rockafeather. Slate still fires him.

Funniest moments are Fred's attempts at other jobs like short order cook, gas station attendant and carnival worker.

Freddie in his sweetest and most cheerful mode.

Warning: Spoilers
I love the Fred Flintstone character. I love the whole FS cartoon series,it is very sweet-natured and very funny to-boot!

Throughout the entire 6 tv seasons all of the individual FS characters eventually get their turn to be the topic or 'star of the episode'.

The wonderful personalities of these FS cartoon characters are actually much- better developed than many 'real-people' characters seen on regular tv shows of that time and today.

All of the FS characters are portrayed with subtlety, gentle nuance and they are very funny!

Betty and Wilma's light laughter is very charming and sweet for just 1 example.

In this episode good old Freddie acts just a little different than is usual.

In many of the other FS episodes Fred seems to have settled into a mildly unhappy mindset that shows itself in Fred's interactions with others,by-way of:

Freddie being a bit rude,a bit gruff,a bit thoughtless, and so-forth. In other words he's at least mildly abrasive towards friends and family, most of the time. It's part of his personality it seems.

This episode here shows us a rarely seen, lighter side of good-old Freddie and it is a bit of a treat,to be honest.

I liked this episode,of course all FS episodes are worth watching but some are indeed better than others and this here is one of the best,an interesting episode any way you look at it.

Watch it and please tell us your opinion !
