How Fred keeps inadvertently inviting the Hatrocks to stay is a running gag of the episode but it's hard to believe even Fred can't keep his mouth shut here.
The Hatrock's are friendly as long as you keep feeding them and don't interfere with whatever they want. They have an aggressive indifference to what others need, want or think. The episode is funny enough but the Hatrock's take terrible advantage of the Flintstone's , Rubbles and Gruesome 's . They are in their way to the World's Fair and are only staying one night. Fred can't wait to be rid of them but every time they are about to leave Fred goes overboard in graciousness only to encourage them to stay. It turns out that the Hatrock's can't stand bug music ( rock and roll) or the group the four Insects ( like the Beatles ) the Gruesome's don't either but agree to help get rid of the freeloading Hatrock's by pretending too. It's really cute how the Flintstone's, Rubbles, Gruesomes and the kids and pets ( Pebbles, Bamm Bamm , Dino and Hoppy) act like the 4 Insects .
