When Will is going on his long ranting monologue to try to get fired from the soap opera, he names or paraphrases the titles of 9 different daytime and primetime soap operas. In order: "The Young And The Restless," "One Life To Live," "Guiding Light," "Search For Tomorrow," "Days Of Our Lives," "Dallas," "Melrose Place," "Falcon Crest," and finally "The Bold And The Beautiful."
Two of the guest stars for this episode, Keith Hamilton Cobb and Leann Hunley, were actual soap opera stars.
Phillip says to Will, "They're hiring someone who has never acted a day in their life to star in a network tv show". This was a nod to the fact that Will Smith had no previous acting experience prior to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
The title is based off of the soap opera "As the World Turns."
When Will is exclaiming about his ability to act as someone in a coma, Geoffrey says "Well, you're no Sunny von Bülow." Martha Sharp "Sunny" von Bülow was an American socialite who in 1980, after a very public incident due to accusations that her husband tried to kill her, was left in a coma from an overdose of prescription medication. Her husband was eventually acquitted and von Bülow lived the last 28 years of her life in a persistent vegetative state.
