A great departure for a great show
schultzclan67 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
It's been 6 years. 6 years of laughter, tears, teasing, trouble, and most importantly, growing up. Will Smith is a young man. Carlton is also a young man. Ashley is a young woman. Hilary was already a young woman when the show started. Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian are two parents that finally want to be free.

And after six years, things have finally come to a close. Hilary and Ashley are going to move to New York. Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv have sold the house to a familiar face. Will and Carlton are going to college. This episode is a great departure for a great show. It provides laughter and humor. Even when they're leaving, there is still humor in the air (with carlton).

Sad ending. A must-see for all Fresh Prince fans and fans of any TV sitcom for that matter. After 6 years, Fresh Prince has proved it's still as fresh as it was 6 years ago.

I, Done: Part 2 (#6.24)

Beautiful ending for a wonderful sitcom. It is definitely a classic and it departed from us in the same way.

The whole episode I had tears in my eyes. When Carlton was trying to help Will. And thank you Will for letting us see Carlton's dancing for the last time. The amazing conversation Will had with uncle Phil. Yes, he is definitely his son. The two of them grew together. And one could see their good connection through the show. Hearing it at the end was definitely emotional. Just like all the goodbyes we saw. It was almost too much for me. Somehow they grew on me and it is like saying good bye to the ones I love as well. I keep on thinking that after that they all kept close together and maybe after Will finished college he started living very close to them. So that he will never have to miss C.

"I'm definitely gonna miss you, C".

Warning: Spoilers
This is how you end a show, or a sitcom for that matter. This is, without a doubt, one of the best finales ever.

Reasons why is that it is very emotional throughout (telling the audience what these characters will be facing next in their lives) and still funny at the same time ... which of course is a very hard thing to write in a script. Being a huge Fresh Prince fan, I (like a lot of people) was excited to see Carlton doing his Carlton dance to Tom Jones 'It's Not Unusual' one last time. And this time, Will joined him.

Separated into a two-parter, the finale made me feel (the first time I caught this show when it aired) like I was going to miss hanging out with the Fresh Prince, the Banks family and Geoffrey. Thank God for DVDs.

I must admit, I did like... or love... every season of "Fresh Prince" and despite the fact that I wished for more episodes, it's always a relief to finish a show on a high, instead of it getting repetitious or stale.

So, in a nutshell, the Banks family move to New York. Will stays in Bel Air as he promises to finish school and get himself situated and apply himself (a great end to Will's character arc as he tells Uncle Phil in a certain scene:

"I didn't want you to think that all these years I've been out here just ain't worth nothing'. That you've just been wastin' your time with me. Look, Uncle Phil, I just don't want you to think that I'm that same stupid kid I was when I first moved out here".

Uncle Phil helps Will find an apartment and everything looks set for his future without his family by his side.

In the critical touching finale in a very bare family room, Will says goodbye to each of the family members, including Geoffrey, while Carlton takes a last-minute trip to the bathroom.

Uncle Phil is the last one to leave. There are two touching moments - actually three. He tells Will to wish Jazz all the best for him. The father figure of Uncle Phil towards Will is very clear as Uncle Phil states:

"You are my son, Will. End of story".

Also, the two have their last touching moment as they embrace. Phil leaves, as he reminds Will to be the phone on Sunday.

Will meanders around the naked house, remembering all the good times here and he switches the lights off, heading off into the kitchen.

For the last time, we hear Carlton's screams -- "HEY! WHO TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS? WHERE IS EVERYBODY?"

Carlton runs off, pulling up his pants. Will emerges from the kitchen with a huge smile on his grill and utters: "I'm definitely gonna miss you, C".

Will ambles out toward the back door, as the camera takes on a nice aerial view of mainly the family room and kitchen.

Back to the Pilot?

... Yep!

Disappointing prince of bel air

Warning: Spoilers
Loved the show and the cast but the finale episode was extremely disappointing! Can't believe Will Smith agreed to do this episode.

In the end: Will smith - no job, no relationship and no money! Hilary's fiance died, Ashley's boyfriend left, Jazz got divorced and by the end of this show also none of them were in a relationship, no romantic tension also in any of episodes. Will got 1 girl in season 5 but she left because of a dumb reason and never came back! Jackie also never came back (she was super awesome)!

No girl for geoffrey either! I would have liked if somehow he had gotten rich by the end.

New Aunt Viv also never got many dialogues (her role was to keep quiet and agree with everyone).

Writers obviously didn't feel or like the characters otherwise they would have given them a way better ending.

Scenes of finale episode were still good, emotional, also some fun scenes but the characters of this show deserved a way better ending, also better writers!
