It Had to Be You (#1.19)

Warning: Spoilers
Jazz sets Will up with his cousin who turns out to be incredibly bossy.

What a hilarious episode. I loved the scenes with Janet being all controlling over Will in the restaurant having planned out how many kids they will have and how he needs to eat healthy because she doesn't want him to die young and leave her alone with the kids.

And Carlton putting his foot down and telling her she is rude was also a great scene. I actually think we need more Carlton on the show he is always awesome.

Jazz of course made me laugh a lot too. And he sure did fly out of the house a lot in this episode.

Uncle Phil being caught by aunt Vivian talking about her and how he can control her was also a beautiful thing. Just as when Hilary said that her university books aren't used books.

Comedy gold

Obviously I've decided to binge watch The Fresh Prince on Netflix, so until now episode 19 from first season is the one that had me cracking up the most. Good lines, funny lines, clever dialogue and perfect balance between the man /woman dynamic.

All-time great moments of comedy

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the funniest single episodes of television I've ever seen, and I've watched a lot. There wasn't a flat moment and every one of the ensemble had great lines. I must single out Vivica A. Fox in the first scene at the restaurant with her excoriating series of zingers. Karyn Parsons was also in incredible form. Alfonso Ribeiro suddenly appears midway to all but steal the show. I laughed as hard watching on stream in 2021 as I did the first time on analogue in 1991. Possibly even harder, given that I've seen nothing so hilarious in years. Lines I've used and used again in one form or another: "Did you think you could sample the milk without making a down-payment on the cow?" "I'm glad you found a time that was convenient for you to call" "Save the charm for the girl on your arm" "Do I make myself clear?" "I really should write a book"
