Monica says she straightened out Joey's shower curtain so it won't get mildew. In the previous episode, we saw that Joey's shower has built-in doors, so he doesn't have a shower curtain.
It is previously stated (The One Where Eddie Moves In) that Monica uses a diaphragm for birth control so she wouldn't have had to fight Rachel for the last condom. But it is also stated in (The One Where Eddie Moves In) that Monica has misplaced her diaphragm so it's entirely plausible that she hasn't yet had time to replace it. Therefore she could be in dire need of a condom. Monica also doesn't know where they are kept and Rachel has to tell her which also supports the idea that Monica normally uses a diaphragm but is now in need of backup protection. In addition, diaphragms don't protect against STDs so Monica might be using condoms as a safe-sex method rather than just contraception.
When the gang (minus Joey) is discussing how Chandler is unhappy with Eddie, Rachel says she's sorry and quickly moves on to saying that she doesn't want to miss Joey's show. Instead of turning on the TV to watch the show, Monica is seen pushing a tape into the VCR. However, the establishing shot is nighttime. Joey is in his own apartment. It can be assumed that one of the gang pre-recorded the show since soap operas are daytime television shows and most of the gang have daytime jobs. What Rachel actually says is: "Chandler, honey, I'm sorry. Can we watch Joey's show now, please?" Ross says: "Yeah." Monica says: "He's not here yet." Rachel then says: "So, he's on the show. He knows what happens." THEN Monica gets up and pushes in the tape.
Ross tells Rachel that he's only had 2 lovers, but Rachel is actually his 3rd.
So indeed, Ross HAD two lovers, and Rachel IS his third.
So indeed, Ross HAD two lovers, and Rachel IS his third.
It takes four characters an unbelievably long time to climb a flight of stairs. Monica's apartment has been established as being above Central Perk while Joey's apartment is in another building. Richard, Monica, Rachel, and Ross leave Central Perk to go to Monica's apartment. Interspersed with scenes that might be occurring concurrently, Joey visits Phoebe in Central Perk. He then goes to his apartment and receives a teleplay from a messenger all before Richard, Monica, Rachel, and Ross finally arrive in Monica's apartment.
As with all the work-centered story lines concerning Joey playing Dr. Drake Ramoray on "Days Of Our Lives", that soap opera films in California, yet Joey and his friends are living in NYC.
