When Ross and Rachel are talking at the end of the show the magna-doodle has a scene from King Kong (1976) with Kong climbing the Empire State Building. In The One with the Videotape (2001) it has "I Love New York" written on it. These were filmed right after the 9/11 attacks and the doodles were a way of showing encouragement for the people of New York City.
Parts of the episode were rewritten after the 9/11 terrorist attacks because of a subplot involving Chandler & Monica being arrested and detained at an airport. Chandler pointed at a sign stating it was illegal to joke about bombs in the airport and told the TSA agent, "You don't have to worry about me ma'am, I take my bombs very seriously." The writers and producers unanimously agreed they could not keep the story and rewrote it. The actors came back to hastily shoot the scenes where the newly-weds obsess over whether their cool fellow newly-wed couple that they met on vacation would want to meet up with them back in NYC.
One of the episodes that was submitted from the show at the Emmys for outstanding comedy series.
The magna-doodle at the beginning of the show has a picture of The Empire State Building with King Kong hanging off of it.
