99 tells Max that she was raised on a farm. Her mother lives outside of Twin Falls, Idaho but she never says this is where she grew up.
This episode is inspired by the comic strip "Peanuts" by Charles M. Schulz in which Snoopy had imaginary adventures fighting The Red Baron. Max is shown reading Schulz's "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" at the beginning of the episode.
This is the first appearance of Jane Dulo as 99's mother, who will become a recurring character throughout the remainder of the series.
At the beginning when Smart, 99 and the Chief are in the airplane, you can see that the name of the airline on the back of the seats has been blurred in red. This appears to have been done later in post-production and not at the time of filming.
Siegfried's plane is painted in the same motif as real-life WWI ace Ernst Udet, who was Germany's second highest scoring Ace with 62 aircraft downed.
