This is THE Kitten Kong!
ingemar-413 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
If you have seen Kitten Kong recently, this is most likely the episode, since the original Kitten Kong episode is not believed to exist any more.

And it is a great episode indeed! Many Goodies episodes are best in the first third and then go downhill a bit, but Kitten Kong is the other way around, the best is in the end. The pet collecting is only marginally funny, the singing dogs scene is hilarious (even though it is very obvious how it is done), the pet walking slapstick is pretty nice. Oh yeah, the petrol/paper mock ad is great, while Butch Tobacco is questionable. But then the giant kitten is created... and the rest is history. The kitten in the falling tower is no less than a humor icon in this monster movie parody.

The effects may be primitive by modern standards, but that really doesn't matter since this has no ambition to be realistic. The simple fact that you can see that it isn't real makes it more funny. You are not supposed to take it seriously, it is a monster movie spoof, not a monster movie!

Notable moment: "Mammy Two-shoes" from "Tom&Jerry" appears briefly.

The ending, where the Goodies' are attacked by giant mice, is one of the "open disaster" endings (like "Stone age" and more), a kind of ending that works very well.

The episode would be a 10 if it wasn't for two things: The first half is funny but not that funny, and dressing up as mice is a little bit to silly for the top score. But almost.
