- The Goodies get responsibility for organising the latest Commonwealth Games, so skew the event in favour of the Brits by choosing sports that are popular in Britain, but not necessarily anywhere else.
- At Goodies HQ - a debate breaks out over the value of the game of cricket. Tim is an avid fan, Bill less so. The discussion then spills over to the value of mixing sport and politics.
The phone rings and Graeme is shocked to be told he has been summoned to the Ministry Of Sport. Arriving they discover Britain is so bankrupt the Ministers office has been moved into the clock tower of Big Ben. The Minister explains to the boys theyve been requested to represent Great Britain in the forth coming Commonwealth Games. The snag is the Commonwealth has shrunk somewhat and now consists of only Great Britain and August Bank Holiday Island, located between Easter and Christmas Island.
Back at Goodie HQ the boys are introduced to the team, that turns out to be a group of elderly members of Parliament. Unfortunately for the boys the whole team is suddenly disqualified because they could not pass a sex test. It is now left to the Goodies to carry the honour of the United Kingdom
The Goodies arrive at the island amid scenes of chaos. They discover the island only has 4 occupants and the August team has only one competitor. Further they realize the stadium the games are to be held in is 7000 meters above sea level. Adding to their misery is the knowledge that no one quite knows what the lack of air will have on English competitors. No Englishman has ever survived climbing the mountain
English scientists have developed special shoes to combat the weightlessness expected at such altitudes. The first day of competition including high jumps and boxing, prove the boots are completely ineffective and actually put the Goodies at a huge disadvantage.
As a consequence of the boots, the Goodies lose all the events they competed in. The automatically hands control of the Commonwealth to August Bank Holiday Island the Commonwealth.
Back in England the Minister briefs the boys that relations in the Commonwealth have improved and all the other nations have returned. Unfortunately this new found unity has lead to the Britain being expelled because they are so bad at games
