As Oliver holds an extension cord and prepares to plug his home into the new power outlet, the film freezes. A voice-over credits the Douglases getting electricity with the great Northeast Blackout of November 9, 1965, the infamous day thirty million people were plunged into darkness. As the film resumes, sparks fly from the outlet and the words "Double Drick" appear on-screen.
Lawlor, the installer, puts in the power meter so that Peter Greeter, the meter reader, can check their power usage. Unfortunately, the new meter is faulty and its wheels spin even though it's not connected to anything.
This is the first of seven appearances Jonathan Hole makes in the series, appearing only twice as same character, i.e. the TV announcer in Oliver Takes Over the Phone Company (1967) and Won't You Come Home, Arnold Ziffel? (1967).
