By this episode even the director was asking the many writers how many different tricks they had planned for the opening credits. In this one there was Sam Drucker, Fred Ziffile and Hank Kimble trying to start a conversation at the beginning the show, but telling each other that it wouldn't do any good to start because no one was going to pay any attention until "the words stopped".
Of course the "words" they were referring to were the writing and directing credits that appear at the start of every episode of just about every TV show and was famously (and very successfully) toyed with in this series. They talked to each other about waiting for the credits to go away before they could start discussing what they really wanted to get around to because "no one" (presumably the TV audience) would be able to follow along.
There was a small cult following of "nature imbibers" of this show (and still are) in the late 1960's because of the many, many various ahead of their time opening credit jokes such as these and others. 😎👍
