Mr. Haney is referred to as "Uncle Charlton" by his nephew, police officer Heston Haney. On the other rare occasions when his first name is used, it's Eustace Haney.

Several famous lawmen are referred to: J Edgar Hoover (Director of the FBI), Wyatt Earp (frontier lawman) and Marshal Dillon (fictional lawman of the television series "Gunsmoke".
