Too short...too rushed.

This is the story of an educator (Cloris Leachman) who brought schooling to the poor rural children of Georgia. If you look closely, you'll see one of the actors is James Dean, who made quite a few teleplays back before switching very briefly to films.

I was surprised to find this half hour installment of "The Hallmark Hall of Fame" as I never realized they made such short TV specials. When I was young, they were all an hour or longer. And, after seeing it, I can see why they made them longer. The story here is just too rushed and too sketchy and would have greatly benefitted from a longer run time. To get around this shortcoming, the narrator would sometimes interrupt and give some exposition...which was kind of sloppy and too away from the impact of the story.
