Simon Nye created Men Behaving Badly a sitcom that took a few series and a change of channels to take off.

Maybe Hardware would have improved if it have moved to the BBC. The first episode is very much in need of a few remedial repairs.

Set in a hardware shop, Mike (Martin Freeman) is the shop assistant who is rude to the customers. You could sympathise with him as some of the customers are a bit clueless.

If they were not, they would had hopped it to B&Q.

When one of the customers tries to kill himself, Mike turns over a new leaf and attempts to be nice instead.

It is an ensemble piece, Kenny (Peter Serafinowicz) gives chat up tips to young Steve, which all goes wrong.

Not the funniest episode and rather predictable. I have seen Simon Nye do better in other shows that he has written and I rather like his acerbic sense of humour.

Maybe Hardware will fix itself in future episodes.
