"Winchester Quarantine" was adapted by Ann Doud for the Have Gun - Will Travel radio program broadcast February 22, 1959.
John Dehner played Paladin and was joined by
Lawrence Dobkin,
Harry Bartell,
Joseph Kearns, and
Barney Phillips. While the bulk of Herb Meadows' plot and dialogue were retained, numerous details of the story were changed. The conclusion, for example, drops Kelso's kind offer of land and substitutes a grand gesture by Paladin, who gives the Whitehorses his $2,000 fee, saying it is "for your child with my apologies for this imperfect world we have to offer him, and my hope for a better one in his lifetime." And where the television version opened with Paladin arriving in town by stage, the radio version is bookended with scenes in San Francisco's Hotel Carlton with
Ben Wright as Hey Boy.
