Quotes

  • Colonel Farraday : [speaking to Jay Farraday]  Then you're gonna have to start to do some thinking, like you've never done before. It's not gonna be enough that you know how to rope a cow. Not anymore. You're gonna have to have brains, education. Two of the things that you've had no respect for.

  • [last lines]

[Colonel Farraday is aiming a rifle at his son, Jay]

Det. Steve McGarrett : Colonel... That's cold-blooded murder. Give me that rifle. Give me the rifle. Let the law take it from here, Colonel.

[Colonel Farraday relents and tosses the rifle to McGarrett]

Colonel Farraday : [referring to his son, Jay]  Get him off my land!

Det. Steve McGarrett : [referring to Colonel Farraday]  Book him too, Danno. Kidnapping.

  • [slams the desk with his hand]

Colonel Farraday : Let the courts decide. Damn well better decide it was murder.

  • Colonel Farraday : Talk about a government of laws, not of men. What's a law when they turn a murderer free. Put him in prison for a year or two at best, so he can kill again whenever he's so moved.

Pete Leone : It never used to be that way.

Colonel Farraday : Well, it's all changed, Pete... and not for the better.

  • [inspecting a horse]

Colonel Farraday : He's got good hindquarters. What do you think, Pete?

Pete Leone : Back's a little long though.

Colonel Farraday : Well, hell, we're not trying to breed blooded Arabians. Just want horseflesh that'll last, that's all.

    Pete Leone : Yes, sir.

Colonel Farraday : Good chest... I'd say he's got staying power. We'll use him first to service Arabella.

  • Colonel Farraday : And by what authority do you come on my land and ask me anything?

Det. Steve McGarrett : In case it missed your notice, your land is still part of the sovereign state of Hawaii whether you like it or not.

Colonel Farraday : In case it missed your notice, McGarrett, my land was here a long time before the state of Hawaii. It was a royal grant from King Kamehameha, dating back to 1810.

Det. Steve McGarrett : Thanks for the history lesson, Colonel, but my question is still unanswered.

  • Colonel Farraday : You told me nothing but lies. I want to hear the truth spoken. Now you killed him and you meant to do it, didn't you? He was dead before you left him.

Larry Kahela : He was alive when I left him and that's the truth!

Colonel Farraday : [referring to Jay Farraday]  That's not what he says.

  • Colonel Farraday : All right, Kahela. We're going to hold our own preliminary hearing right here: you, me, Pete, and Jay. Out there, in the open, under the eyes of God, where nobody can hide and I want to hear the truth spoken!
