In the third and last Helen West Casebook, the show follows its usual format: dull for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and then in the last 15 minutes or so, the subplots come together.

In this episode, Helen's boyfriend, Chief Bailey, has someone in custody for the murder of a professional boxer, but it isn't sitting well with him. Helen is painting her apartment mustard yellow with the help of a young woman named Cath, whose brother was the boxer. Cath has an abusive husband, which is upsetting to Helen, who works with battered women cases. The woman's husband is a suspect in her brother's murders. One of Helen's friends, who recommended Cath to her, has a daughter who digs up a knife in the garden.

And then we have Helen's testy relationship with her boyfriend. That situation always seems very awkward.

Amanda Burton's underplaying fits Helen well, but she deserved better than this series. Despite good stories, the execution was not.
