When Sarah Connor met James Bond
movieman_kev23 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
When the nursing agency sends over Steph Reynolds (Lena Headey) to care for an elderly dying wheelchair-bound woman, Miss Gati (Karen Black), she also meets Gati's handyman, Jerry (Daniel Craig), whom she soon grows close to thanks in part to the diabolical machinations of Gati.

There's not much meat to this episode and the nurse's transformation feels way too sudden. I'll chalk this up to the alloted running time of a typical half-hour series, but it still feels a bit too condensed for the subject matter. That gripe aside, all three main roles are acted out well enough & I enjoyed seeing Daniel Craig in an earlier role. (and it was still a damn sight better then that horrid "Tales from the Crypt" episode that he had guest-starred)

My Grade: C+

Eye Candy: Lena Headey's tits & bush are quite visible under a sheer negligee.

Predictable Threesome

The gorgeous nurse Steph (Lena Headey) is hired by the handicapped Miss Gati (Karen Black) to take care of her. Miss Gati lives in an old house with his handyman Jerry (Daniel Craig), who unsuccessfully hits on Steph. But soon Steph changes her behaviour acting like a ninphomanic and having sex with Jerry the most different ways. What happened to Steph?

"Menage a Trois" is a predictable tale where is easy to understand the change of behavior of the nurse. The title itself is a spoiler. There is one scene where Lena Headley looks like the Blade Runner character performed by Daaryl Hannah. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Trio" ("Trio")

Wish the characters were developed better

Warning: Spoilers
I actually watched this because it reminded me of a short story I read a long time ago, where it was the same situation; invalid, rich lady in wheelchair who plays with the lives of her help. The characters in the book were better defined and you saw in your mind's eye how all the characters were growing and realizing what was happening until the twisted ending, which was way better than the one in this movie version. I find it funny that they used the same name in the movie as in the book, but the older woman calls the man Pritchard, not Jerry.

The movie was artfully done, like the last sex scene with Steph(Lena) - loved her outfit and makeup - beating Craig(Jerry)for him finally finding out what was going on. I found that quite unbelievable, but I understand why they made the scene end that way. I actually liked all Steph's/Ms. Gati's outfits when she would seduce Jerry.

If it was an hour long show instead of 30 minutes, I think they could have done a much better job and it would have been intense.

Good!

Warning: Spoilers
"Hunger knows no friend but its feeder." - Aristophanes.

"Hunger is insolent, and will be fed" - Homer.

"Ego has a voracious appetite, the more you feed it, the hungrier it gets." - Nathaniel Bronner Jr.

Too short for a real development of the power theories it lies before us, it's great food for thought. All three actors are remarkable. Not at all porn: there are 4 sex scenes which are extremely short and quite subtle, soundless and shot in a very artistic way.

POSSIBLE SPOILER The nurse's transformation may be too fast for real deep portrait, but the actress does a wonderful job. Not enough length to understand the old lady-nurse connection.

END OF SPOILER

Daniel Craig is very interesting as a character caught between the lust for freedom and the prisons of lust. The old lady's eccentricity is perhaps a bit over-toned. Great voice work, but a little too itchy on the facials. then again, maybe that was the whole point. Congrats. Good Health To All.

"This is f****** bull*hit."

So exclaims one of the lead characters and I could not agree more! This is porn film thinly disguised as a horror short story. It's the old chestnut of a person been possessed by another and experiencing thrills vicariously. In this case, it's sex, of course.

Done far better lots of time before and just recently in the film, 'Skelton Key,' which, unlike this, was both spooky and interesting. Then again, if you like the idea of the new James Bond (Daniel Craig) stimulating sex with Karen Black, then this could the one for you!

Filmed like an art film with lots of art school lighting and camera shots, this still doesn't prevent it just been sleazy soft core porn. Terence Stamp should be ashamed of himself getting involved in doing the framing shots in this t&a debacle.
