not as great as the previous episode of the series, but still pretty good

In this episode of "The Hunger", the first of three based on the stories of Graham Masterton, Craig (Jason Scott Lee of "Dragon: the Bruce Lee Story" fame) is a young chef who desires to read the secret Shin Tan, a fabled and extremely rare cooking book, after an elderly recluse by the name of Hugo who holds the book in his possession leaves his card after a brief visit to his restaurant despite the very vocal objections of his uncle who knows what's really in the book. He finds himself at Hugo's manor where he agrees to cook for him in exchange for reading the obscure book. A task that he's very reluctant to do after reading the book.

This episode was a tad disappointing, watching it after the great 'Necros' episode that preceded it, but only a smidgen so thanks to how uniformly well-acted it is. The plot may be a tad generic and a bit too easy to see where the story is headed, but I had fun with this episode none the less.

Eye Candy: Gregoriane Minot Payeur shows T&A

So Far, The Best Episode

The prominent chef Craig Yun (Jason Scott Lee) inherited the restaurant f his retired Uncle Lee (Robert Ito) and now the successful place is croweded every day. When a man called Hugo Lawery (Kenneth Welsh) comes to his restaurant with the young Egzan (Gregoriane Minot Payeur), he offers the mysterious Shih Tan receipt book provided Craig Yun prepares one dish for a very selected guests at Hugo Lawery's house. Uncle Lee is against the proposal, but Craig decides to accept. Soon he learns the secret of the Shih Tan receipt book.

"The Secret Shih Tan" is, so far, the best episode of "The Hunger". The secret is not hard to guess, but the development of the story is excellent. The conclusion may surprise many viewers. My vote is eight.
