King Kamehameha was played by Michael Ansara, the then husband of Barbara Eden. He previously played the Blue Djinn in Happy Anniversary (1966) and later played Major Biff Jellico in My Sister, the Home Wrecker (1969). He also directed One Jeannie Beats Four of a Kind (1970).
Jeannie never wears her trademark pink harem outfit in this episode.
Like all shows on MeTV, shown circa 2005 onward, several minutes have been cut from the original. Very obvious here, for example, as the store clerk's shirt is already ripped before the king's tirade. The scene omits the first minute or so when he walks into the store and starts wrecking the touristy trinkets. One of several scenes or partial scenes cut in this episode.
The scene of Jeannie blinking from the bushes was later used in the movie I Dream of Jeannie... Fifteen Years Later (1985).
This is the second of 3 episodes taking place in Hawaii. All three were filmed together, though the third one was broadcast out of order early in the season (#3.3); the first two in mid-season (#3.14 & #3.15).
