"Divorce, Genie Style" opens with Tony going overboard in praising the culinary skills of Mrs. Bellows, so much so that Jeannie calls upon Haji (Abraham Sofaer, in his third and final appearance), king of all the genies, to take away her magical powers forever so she can live life as a mortal woman. He grants her request, for one week but no longer, unwilling to have his genies 'turning into a bunch of hippies!' While cooking and ironing Jeannie burns her master's dinner and shirt, surprising him with the shock of losing her powers. With Tony forced to wear a shrunken uniform to work, Amanda Bellows drops by his house to meet his 'housekeeper,' stunned to learn that Jeannie insists on being the best housewife she can be, and that she calls Major Nelson her 'master' (still dressed in her harem costume, as she never blinked up another). A long talk has Amanda believing that Tony's wife has been living the life of a slave, offering her protection in the Bellows home until the divorce can be arranged. This entire plot line is completely forgotten once Jeannie becomes Tony's fiancée and wife during the fifth season (Dr. Bellows had already met Jeannie in two previous episodes).
