A woman named Jodi Jones from Texarkana, Texas won a contest by her local cable company to appear in this episode. Shandling nicknamed her "Jo Jo". In the episode, the name of the show is changed to "It's Garry Shandling and Jo Jo's Show".
In his opening remarks at the beginning of the show, Shandling mentions a young woman whom Bruce Springsteen had brought up on stage to dance with him in Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark video. When this episode aired in 1986, aired, almost no one, probably not even Shandling, would have known the name of that young woman, but in a few years, the world would know Courteney Cox as one of the stars of Friends. Cox later appeared as herself on season four of Shandling's The Larry Sanders Show.
