Don Durant: Johnny Ringo

Quotes

  • [first lines]

    Luke : Evening, Johnny.

    Johnny Ringo : Hello, Luke.

    Luke : Closin' up shop?

Johnny Ringo : No, every night seems to be gettin' a little later. Looks like Velardi's growin'.

Luke : Yeah. Pretty soon the first ones will be gettin' up before the last ones go to bed - then you'll have to work around the clock.

  • Johnny Ringo : You men strangers in Velardi?

Matt Sample : This ain't that big of a town, Sheriff. You ever seen us before?

    Johnny Ringo : Nope.

Matt Sample : Then it figures we must be strangers, don't it?

  • Matt Sample : Name's Matt Sample.

Johnny Ringo : My name's Johnny Ringo.

Matt Sample : Ringo? Well, knowin' that's enough to keep a body from doin' somethin' foolish.

Johnny Ringo : You plannin' on doin' somethin' foolish, Mr. Sample?

  • Johnny Ringo : You know, it's funny - he died the same time you arrived.

Matt Sample : Well, you know what I'd call that, Johnny? I'd call it a coincidence. What would you call it?

Johnny Ringo : Right now? Oh, somewhere between a coincidence and an incriminating circumstance.

  • Johnny Ringo : They'll be a few questions I want to ask you later.

Mary Cannon : Here's an answer. Charlie Hanford was right - his father was murdered.

  • Matt Sample : Why don't you go over to your office and wait till it's all over. It's a nice private fight. Ain't nobody goin' to get hurt unless they're part of it.

Johnny Ringo : When it happens in Velardi, Sample, I'm part of it.

Matt Sample : All right, Johnny, your deal... but you ain't goin' to like the cards.

  • [Mrs. Haig opens the door with a cocked pistol in her hand]

Johnny Ringo : You must be expecting trouble.

Mrs. Haig : No, I'm not expecting trouble, Mr. Ringo. It's here already.

  • [Ringo enters Louie's nearly empty bar]

Johnny Ringo : Business looks good, Louie.

Blind Louie : Why don't you go on the stage and tell jokes. Some people will laugh at anything.

  • [last lines]

Luke : Hi, Johnny. Have a tough day?

Johnny Ringo : Yeah, pretty busy. Couple more like it and I'll be ready to retire.

Luke : Well, like you said, Johnny - got to raise the taxes, give you a few more men.

Johnny Ringo : Yeah, as long as the job gets done, I'm afraid non one will apy for extra help.

Luke : But what happens if the job isn't done?

Johnny Ringo : Then I get fired. Good night, Luke.
