Classic TV Xmas Countdown Episode #20
The gang all agree to help Carmine put on a Christmas show at the hospital - but they don't know it's a place for mental patients.
This is the better of the two L&S holiday episodes, even though half of it is basically a variety show. The rest is so well-written and has many great character moments that you don't mind. Laverne flirts and plays "monkey-see-monkey-do" with a patient. Shirley is freaked out by them - especially by the weird girl who keeps staring.
It is actually a joy watching the cast perform the musical numbers (especially now that most of them have passed on), even if this isn't Lenny and Squiggy's greatest bit. Carmine tap dances and does some acrobatic moves to "Jingle Bell Rock". The girls do a baton twirling routine to "Winter Wonderland" while dressed as elves. On the DVD version I watched, music rights issues must have made them cut Mrs. Babish's number. She's there and in costume but we never see her perform. 7/10.
